Memory makers cry foul over similar ads
Article Abstract:
Computer memory makers Kingston Technology Co and Vision TEK have launched business-to-business advertising campaigns that are very similar to each other. Vision Tek's advertising, which was launched in Apr 1997 and has won eight awards from the 13th Annual Golden Screen Awards, includes a crying baby screaming over computer downtime. In Oct 1997, Kingston's advertising was introduced which also featured a crying baby demanding more memory. When interviewed both parties denied that they copied the idea of a crying baby in their advertising campaigns.

The American Business Press (ABP) launched the Creative Excellence in Business Advertising (CEBA) Awards in 1996 to promote better creativity in the business press advertising industry. All advertisements featured in ABP magazines can compete in the CEBA Awards. Beside being honored at the CEBA Awards, the winner will also win a cash prize of $25,000. The 1997 CEBA Awards winner is the Elanco Animal Health's campaign for Micotil cow medication which is produced by the Sawyer Riley Compton advertising firm.
